GO 76 to clear 9 lakh pending Sadabainama applications
Telangana has moved to clear over 9 lakh pending Sadabainama applications by simplifying procedures and reducing documentation requirements.
Under Government Order 76, only the buyer is now required to submit an affidavit, replacing earlier provisions that caused delays. The move is expected to accelerate approvals and bring long-pending cases to closure.
The earlier 2020 Record of Rights Act did not provide a clear mechanism to resolve such applications. Authorities are now using the Bhubharati framework, which assigns a unique Bhoodhar number to each survey, similar to an Aadhaar for land.
Pilot surveys are currently underway in 413 unmapped villages across five regions. The exercise will be expanded in phases to cover around 70 villages in each of 32 districts, excluding Hyderabad.
“The pending applications will be resolved quickly,” said Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, minister for revenue, housing, and information and public relations.
The government has also moved to streamline digital systems. The earlier Dharani portal faced operational issues, including misuse that reportedly led to losses. The new Bhubharati portal reduces the number of modules from 41 to six and is expected to be fully operational by April-end.
