TG-RERA Extends Eligible Project Completion Timelines by 4 Months Citing West Asia Situation
Eligible registered projects will receive automatic regulatory relief without the need for separate applications or additional fees.
Homebuyers and developers in Telangana will get more time as the Telangana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TG-RERA) has extended the registration and completion deadlines of eligible real estate projects by four months. The relief comes after the Central government advised all state real estate regulators to treat the ongoing West Asia conflict as a "war" under the Force Majeure provisions of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016.
The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), in an advisory issued on July 31, 2026, asked all Real Estate Regulatory Authorities to grant a four-month extension to registered projects whose completion date, revised completion date or previously extended completion date falls on or after February 28, 2026.
Following the advisory, TG-RERA issued an order under Section 6 of the RERA Act and Rule 6 of the Telangana RERA Rules, 2017, extending the validity of registration and the corresponding project completion timelines by four months.
The authority clarified that projects whose completion deadline falls between February 28, 2026 and July 31, 2026 will now have time until November 30, 2026 to complete construction.
The extension is aimed at helping developers affected by disruptions linked to the West Asia conflict, including delays in the supply of construction materials, equipment and other project inputs.
TG-RERA also made it clear that developers do not need to submit separate applications or pay any fee to receive the extension. The additional four months will apply automatically to all eligible registered projects covered under the order.
