₹300 Crore Life Sciences Investment in Hyderabad’s Genome Valley to Create 250 Jobs
Telangana will receive fresh investments of around ₹300 crore in the life sciences sector, State IT, Industries and Commerce Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said on Sunday. US-based Cambridge Isotope Laboratories (CIL) and local firm Chem Tatva Chiral Solutions have come forward to jointly set up an advanced manufacturing facility. The companies plan to invest about ₹300 crore over the next three years, the minister said.
The project will be established at Phase-4 of Genome Valley in Hyderabad and is expected to create around 250 jobs. The minister said the CEOs of both companies met him at the State Secretariat on Sunday and confirmed their investment plans. Sridhar Babu said Telangana is rapidly emerging as a global hub for life sciences and specialty chemicals. The partnership between Cambridge Isotope Laboratories and Chem Tatva reflects the strong confidence international companies have in the state, he added.
He said the investment will strengthen Telangana’s capabilities in advanced chemistry and materials. The new facility will manufacture isotope-labelled compounds, which are widely used in pharmaceutical research, metabolic studies, diagnostic testing, advanced electronics, organic electro-luminescent materials (OLED) and the semiconductor industry.
Once the project becomes operational, India’s dependence on imports of such specialised compounds is expected to reduce significantly, the minister said. The companies decided to invest in Genome Valley due to the favourable industrial environment, skilled scientific talent, world-class infrastructure and supportive government policies available in the region, Sridhar Babu explained.
CEO of Chem Tatva Chiral Solutions Dr. Vishal Rajput said that the partnership with Cambridge Isotope Laboratories will help build world-class manufacturing capabilities in Telangana. The meeting was also attended by Cliff Caldwell, CEO of Cambridge Isotope Laboratories, and Shakti Nagappa, Director of Telangana Life Sciences, among others.
