Government examines key project to ease East Hyderabad traffic

A proposed flyover connecting Sagar Ring Road Junction to BN Reddy via Hastinapuram is likely to move forward as the Telangana government considers granting administrative approval and allocating funds for the project.

The flyover is expected to provide a long-term solution to traffic congestion along one of East Hyderabad's busiest corridors. The LB Nagar–Hastinapuram–BN Reddy stretch carries heavy traffic from the Vijayawada National Highway, Inner Ring Road and surrounding localities, including Meerpet, Badangpet, Vanasthalipuram and LB Nagar.

Increasing vehicle volumes have resulted in severe congestion during morning and evening peak hours, affecting daily commuters and public transport. The need for improved road infrastructure has grown alongside rapid urban expansion in the region.

Over the past few years, several residential colonies, gated communities, apartment projects, educational institutions, hospitals and commercial establishments have come up, leading to a steady rise in traffic.
Once completed, the proposed flyover is expected to reduce waiting time at the busy Sagar Ring Road Junction and improve traffic flow towards BN Reddy.

It is also expected to enhance connectivity between LB Nagar, Hastinapuram, Meerpet and Badangpet, making travel easier for office-goers, students and emergency service vehicles. The project forms part of Hyderabad's ongoing efforts to improve urban mobility through flyovers, underpasses and signal-free corridors.

Officials believe the proposed structure could become another important infrastructure addition for the eastern part of the city, supporting both current traffic needs and future growth. The government is yet to announce the final alignment, project cost, land acquisition requirements and implementation timeline.

Once administrative approvals are issued, the tendering process is expected to begin, paving the way for construction.
