Future City compensation hits ₹1.24 cr an acre
Land acquisition gains momentum for flagship expressway project
Property Pulse
The Telangana government has awarded compensation of up to ₹1.24 crore per acre to farmers whose lands have been acquired for the proposed Future City Expressway, marking a significant milestone in one of the state's most ambitious infrastructure initiatives.
The compensation package covers land acquired in Kongara Kalan and Kongara Khurd villages of Ranga Reddy district. Officials said extensive consultations were held with landowners before finalising the compensation structure, which varies depending on location, market value and development potential.
Around 1,500 acres have been acquired for the greenfield corridor, which is expected to serve as a major connectivity backbone for the proposed Future City region.
The expressway, estimated to cost ₹4,600 crore, will connect the Raviryal interchange on the Outer Ring Road with Amangal via Meerkhanpet. The corridor will pass through Maheshwaram, Ibrahimpatnam, Kandukur, Kadthal and Amangal mandals, areas that have already begun attracting investor attention due to proposed infrastructure projects.
Officials believe the road will significantly improve access to Future City and help support planned residential, commercial and industrial development across the southern growth corridor.
Land acquisition often represents one of the most challenging aspects of large infrastructure projects. The progress achieved in acquiring land for the expressway is therefore being viewed as an important step towards implementation.
The proposed Future City itself is expected to emerge as a major economic and urban development zone over the coming years. Improved road connectivity is considered critical to attracting investments, supporting logistics movement and enabling future employment centres.
Industry observers note that infrastructure-led development has historically played a major role in reshaping Hyderabad's real estate geography. Similar trends were witnessed following the development of the Outer Ring Road and major IT corridors.
The expressway is expected to improve regional connectivity while creating new growth opportunities across parts of Ranga Reddy district that have traditionally remained outside Hyderabad's core development zones. With land acquisition progressing and planning activities continuing, the Future City Expressway is expected to become one of the key infrastructure projects supporting Telangana's long-term urban expansion strategy.
