CMC Greenlights Multi-Sports Hubs, Urban Design Cell and Waste Management Initiatives
Cyberabad civic body clears a major urban development push covering infrastructure upgrades, sports facilities, drainage works, sanitation reforms and governance changes across key zones.
The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) has approved a range of infrastructure, urban planning and civic development initiatives, including new sports facilities, storm water drainage projects, sanitation measures and governance reforms, as part of efforts to strengthen public amenities and improve urban services across its jurisdiction.
The decisions were taken at the fifth ordinary meetings of the Standing Committee and the Corporation, chaired by Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD), alongside CMC Commissioner G. Srijana.
Among the key decisions, the Standing Committee approved the development of multi-sports infrastructure at five identified locations in the Serilingampally Zone through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and other suitable implementation models. The committee also approved the establishment of five "Project Ashray – Rest & Wellness Hubs" for gig and delivery workers in the zone under Amazon's CSR initiative.
In a move aimed at improving urban recreational infrastructure, approvals were granted for the development of a Sports Arena under the PJR Flyover at Anjaiah Nagar in Madhapur and re-development of the Jyothirao Phule Municipal Ground at Bahadurpally with a sports arena, theme park and upgraded facilities.
Administrative sanction was granted for development of the Madhapur Graveyard with modern amenities, while drain and storm water drain works were approved at Izzathnagar in Madhapur Circle to improve urban drainage.
The civic body approved the establishment of an Urban Design Cell, a new mechanism for issuance and renewal of technical and builder licences, and the appointment of one Legal OSD for CMC and three Zonal Legal Officers. It also cleared the allotment of 45 shops at the Model Rythu Bazar in Ameenpur and fresh tenders for the remaining vacant units.
To strengthen sanitation and waste management, the committee approved EOIs for city-wide awareness campaigns, mechanised road sweeping and scientific management of legacy construction and demolition waste, including remediation of dumpsites near IKEA.
Other approvals included engagement of 13 outsourced computer operators for the Engineering and Vigilance Wings and allotment of the Jeedimetla Ward Office for a Prohibition and Excise Station.
The committee also ratified the proposal to rename the US Consulate Road stretch between Q-City Junction and IRDA Junction in Gachibowli as "Donald Trump Avenue", subject to government approval.
The Corporation meeting accorded administrative sanctions for several approved projects, while on the proposal to pay Rs. 20.60 crore to HYDRAA towards monsoon emergency operations in 2026, it was decided that the government would issue common orders for all three municipal corporations.
