MMC Drive in Bowenpally Focuses on Roads, Waste Management and Lake Protection

Road repairs, sanitation, construction and demolition (C&D) waste management and protection of water bodies have come under focus in Bowenpally Circle, with the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) stepping up field-level inspections and enforcement measures.

MMC Commissioner Vinay Krishna Reddy, conducted an extensive field inspection covering Monda Market Road, Bowenpally Cantonment, Hasmathpet Bone Cheruvu, the Hasmathpet Secondary Collection and Transport Point and R.R. Nagar. He directed officials to speed up road repairs, improve sanitation, prevent illegal dumping and strengthen lake and mosquito-control measures.

At Monda Market Road, the Commissioner inspected road conditions and directed the Engineering Department to immediately take up patchwork on the damaged stretch near Pista House. He also asked officials to ensure safe movement for commuters. Sanitation officials were instructed to keep roadsides and footpaths clean every day and completely remove garbage.

In the Bowenpally Cantonment area, a vacant plot was found to have been used for illegal dumping of C&D waste and municipal garbage. Stagnant water at the site had also created conditions conducive to mosquito breeding. The Commissioner directed officials to identify the site owner, remove the waste and stagnant water immediately and arrange fencing for the plot. He also warned of strict action against future illegal dumping.

Lake protection was another focus of the inspection. At Hasmathpet Bone Cheruvu, the Commissioner directed officials to speed up the removal of water hyacinth and eliminate mosquito breeding points. He also asked officials to coordinate with the Traffic Police to prevent illegal vehicle parking on the lake premises and impose fines on violators.

At the Hasmathpet Secondary Collection and Transport Point, the Commissioner reviewed the attendance of Swachh Auto drivers, garbage collection trips and the digital vehicle scanning system. He interacted with sanitation workers and reviewed their performance. Officials were directed to plant saplings at every Secondary Collection and Transport Point and take special measures for their maintenance.

In R.R. Nagar, the Commissioner participated in the Vanamahotsavam programme by planting saplings with local residents. He inspected sanitation conditions in the colony and directed officials to strengthen solid waste management. Residents were also urged to plant and maintain saplings in planter boxes outside their homes.

The Commissioner stated that construction and demolition waste should not be dumped on roadsides or in vacant plots. Such waste should be taken only to an authorised C&D Waste Processing Plant for proper disposal. 

He said a clean, green and sustainable Malkajgiri can be achieved through public participation and coordination among different departments. Officials were directed to maintain continuous monitoring of sanitation, road maintenance, lake protection and mosquito-control measures.
