Malkajgiri Tightens Monitoring of SAT Vehicles in Sanitation Push
Sanitation Action Team (SAT) vehicles have come under strict operational monitoring as the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation intensifies its focus on urban cleanliness, a key factor influencing liveability and neighbourhood development standards across the city’s residential zones.
In a review meeting held at the corporation headquarters in Tarnaka, Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation Commissioner Vinay Krishna Reddy issued a series of directives to Sanitation Field Assistants (SFAs) from the Uppal Zone, emphasising improved accountability in waste management systems and stronger field-level execution.
A core instruction was the mandatory linkage of SAT vehicles with respective Secondary Collection Transfer Points (SCTPs), along with daily tracking of trip movements. Officials were directed to maintain systematic records of vehicle trips to ensure operational transparency and efficiency in waste collection logistics.
The Commissioner highlighted that sanitation staff must be exclusively deployed for core cleaning operations, including door-to-door waste collection and sweeping. Deployment for non-sanitation duties will be permitted only under emergency conditions with prior approval from the Zonal Commissioner.
He also instructed that waste accumulated on roads must be immediately transferred to Garbage Vulnerable Point (GVP) locations and cleared on a daily basis. Maintaining clean road margins and simultaneous execution of margin levelling works were highlighted as part of broader urban upkeep measures impacting residential surroundings.
The review further directed SFAs to maintain updated records of SAT auto staff and sweepers, including identification of frequent and long-term absentees. Officials were asked to strengthen ground-level awareness of all GVP points within their jurisdiction to improve response efficiency.
Attendance compliance, door-to-door collection coverage, and sweeping performance were flagged as key monitoring parameters, with a specific emphasis on reducing absenteeism among sweeping staff through continuous supervision.
The Commissioner also announced a follow-up zonal review meeting involving Assistant Engineers (AEs), Deputy Engineers (DEs), Deputy Commissioners (DCs), and SFAs after 20 days to assess implementation progress and overall sanitation performance improvements.
The renewed administrative push signals a stronger link between municipal sanitation systems and urban infrastructure quality, a key consideration in residential development planning and neighbourhood valuation.
