The Malkajgiri civic body reviewed flood mitigation, waste management and emergency preparedness to ensure smooth civic services during the rainy season.
The Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) is fully prepared for the monsoon season, with round-the-clock staff deployment, emergency response teams on standby and intensified field inspections aimed at preventing waterlogging, ensuring sanitation and maintaining uninterrupted civic services.
MMC Commissioner Vinay Krishna Reddy conducted inspections across Old Bowenpally, Kanajiguda, Dwarakanagar Colony, Temple Alwal Road and Macha Bollaram Road to review drainage infrastructure, sanitation operations and flood preparedness. The inspections focused on identifying potential problem areas and ensuring preventive measures are in place before heavy rainfall.
At Old Bowenpally, the Commissioner inspected waterlogging-prone areas, floodwater channels, open nalas, drainage connections and rainwater flow routes. Officials were instructed to undertake regular desilting of nalas and stormwater drains to ensure the smooth flow of rainwater and prevent flooding. He also directed all departments to coordinate efforts to avoid water stagnation on roads and within residential colonies.
In Kanajiguda, the Commissioner reviewed the door-to-door waste collection system and instructed officials to ensure garbage is collected from every household. He also directed that substitute sanitation workers or SAT auto drivers be deployed immediately whenever regular personnel are absent to prevent disruption of services.
