Hyderabad is set to get a new form of last-mile connectivity, with a skywalk being developed to directly connect LB Nagar Metro Station with Vasavi Anand Nilayam residential township. Once completed, residents will be able to access the metro station without walking along busy roads, providing a shorter and more convenient route to public transport.

The LB Nagar stretch of NH-65 witnesses heavy traffic movement, making pedestrian movement between the metro station and the residential township challenging. According to the project promoters, the existing walking journey takes around 10–12 minutes. The proposed skywalk is expected to reduce this to approximately 2–3 minutes.

The facility is therefore designed not merely as a pedestrian crossing but as a direct link between a mass-transit station and a residential development. Metro-linked pedestrian infrastructure already exists around several commercial, retail and office developments in Hyderabad. However, Vasavi Group says the LB Nagar project will be the first in Hyderabad to provide a direct skywalk connection from a metro concourse to a residential township.

If delivered as planned, the connection could add another dimension to the way residential projects are integrated with public transport. The skywalk will run along the NH-65 footpath and will be supported by 10 major pillars. Each pillar is planned to have a diameter of approximately 5.94 metres and a height of 8.64 metres.

The facility will include staircases, ramps and lifts to provide access for pedestrians. The developer said the required approvals have been obtained in coordination with L&T Metro Rail and the traffic police. IIT Hyderabad is also involved in the design and technical review, according to the company. Under the agreement with L&T, the project has a targeted completion period of 180 days, or six months.

Vasavi Avenues LLP and SR Infra will oversee the construction work. Vasavi Anand Nilayam is being developed across approximately 29.37 acres and comprises 3,576 residential units. Once operational, the skywalk is expected to provide residents with easier access to metro services while reducing their exposure to traffic on the busy road stretch.
