Cyberabad Municipal Corporation Clears Rs 166.7-Cr Headquarters and Road Infrastructure Projects

Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) has approved the construction of a permanent headquarters and key road development projects worth over Rs 166.7 crore, paving the way for major administrative and infrastructure upgrades to support the region's rapid urban expansion.

At its 4th Ordinary Meeting chaired by Special Chief Secretary, MA&UD, Jayesh Ranjan, the Standing Committee approved a series of infrastructure, civic administration and urban development proposals, including a permanent CMC office complex, two major road development plans, and a Rs 5.70-crore urban biodiversity initiative involving vehicle-mounted bucket ladders for tree maintenance activities across all zones.

The proposed CMC headquarters will come up near Mudi Kunta Lake in Khanamet Village of Serilingampally Mandal at an estimated cost of Rs 161 crore. Planned as a G+8 structure with provision for future expansion up to G+12 floors, the building is expected to serve as a centralized administrative hub aimed at improving governance, inter-departmental coordination and citizen service delivery.

The committee also approved two major Road Development Plans (RDPs) designed to improve connectivity and support future urban growth. These include a 30-metre-wide corridor from JJ Nagar to Kompally via Growmore Food Nursery near Fox Sagar Lake and a 45-metre-wide corridor from Ameenpur Kaman to Gandhi Statue via Bandam Kommu Lake. Both projects will be taken forward through acquisition of affected properties subject to feasibility.

To strengthen civic infrastructure delivery, approvals were also granted for engaging supporting personnel for the Town Planning and Engineering wings, subject to rationalisation of manpower requirements. The move is expected to improve application disposal, field inspections, enforcement activities, project monitoring, quality control and execution of infrastructure works.

The Standing Committee further approved implementation of an entomology pilot project covering newly added ULB circles, consultancy support services for institutional and operational activities, and deployment of 14 vehicle-mounted bucket ladders at an estimated cost of Rs 5.70 crore to support scientific tree maintenance and improve public safety.

In addition, the committee approved revision of base lease prices and lease tenure for sports facilities to enhance transparency, monitoring and revenue realisation from public assets.

A total of 11 agenda items were placed before the committee. While proposals to strengthen the Town Planning and Engineering wings were approved with directions for manpower rationalisation, the proposal to engage ASCI for solid waste management support was withdrawn. All other agenda items received approval.

The Standing Committee directed officials to ensure timely implementation of approved projects, effective utilisation of public resources and close coordination among departments to deliver the benefits of the works to citizens without delay.
