The Telangana government has appointed K.S. Sreenivasa Raju, IAS (Retired), as the Chairperson of the Telangana State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TGRERA) under the provisions of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016.

The appointment was notified by the Metropolitan Area and Urban Development (MA&UD) Department through G.O. Ms. No. 175, issued on June 27. The government stated that the appointment has been made under Section 22 of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, read with Rule 17 of the Telangana Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Rules, 2017.

Sreenivasa Raju, a 1999-batch IAS officer of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh cadre, holds an M.Tech degree and took voluntary retirement from the Indian Administrative Service before being appointed TGRERA Chairperson.

Following his inter-cadre deputation to Telangana in April 2020, he held several key positions in the state government. Most recently, he served as Principal Secretary to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy from May 2025. Earlier, he was appointed as the government's Advisor on Infrastructure and Projects in July 2024 and had also served as Secretary, Roads & Buildings Department and Secretary, Youth Advancement, Tourism & Culture Department.

Before moving to Telangana, Sreenivasa Raju spent nearly eight years as the Joint Executive Officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and also held several administrative positions in Andhra Pradesh, including Joint Collector, Deputy Commissioner and Deputy Secretary. He also served as a Non-Executive Director on the board of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL) until October 2024.

Sreenivasa Raju's appointment comes at a time when Telangana's real estate sector continues to witness sustained residential and commercial growth, with TG-RERA playing a crucial role in regulating real estate projects, protecting homebuyers' interests and strengthening transparency and compliance across the sector.
