Key road and flyover projects across Malkajgiri are set for a push as the civic body moves to clear land and property hurdles.

MMC Accelerates Land Acquisition and TDR Process to Fast-Track Key Infrastructure Projects

The Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) has accelerated efforts to complete several long-pending infrastructure projects by fast-tracking land acquisition, speeding up the issuance of Transferable Development Rights (TDR) and resolving issues delaying major road and flyover works. The initiative covers the AOC Project, TKR Flyover, RK Puram Road Over Bridge (ROB) and Uppal Flyover.

Chairing a review meeting with senior officials at the MMC headquarters, Commissioner Vinay Krishna Reddy directed officials to expedite pending infrastructure works to improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion across the rapidly urbanising municipality.

A major part of the review focused on the long-pending AOC Project. The Commissioner discussed the State Government's allocation of 5.78 acres of land to the Defence Department in exchange for defence land, along with the transfer of 153 acres in the LLR area of Shamirpet. He directed officials to immediately write to the Medchal–Malkajgiri District Collector to expedite the process. The meeting also reviewed the acquisition of Railway land required for the project and measures to speed up the remaining land acquisition.

The Commissioner also instructed officials to convene a meeting with the Detailed Project Report (DPR) consultant within two days to advance plans for the construction of the new MMC headquarters building.

Reviewing the proposed TKR Flyover, the Commissioner assessed properties likely to be affected by the project and directed officials to identify an alternative alignment that would minimise displacement. He also instructed them to prepare a detailed inventory of affected structures based on their nature and extent of impact.

The meeting also included discussions with owners of properties affected by the TKR Flyover project. Several agreed to accept Transferable Development Rights (TDR) and expressed their willingness to hand over the required portions of their buildings for the project. The Commissioner assured them that the LB Nagar Zonal Commissioner and the Chief City Planner would extend full support and expedite the TDR issuance process.

Progress on the RK Puram Road Over Bridge was also reviewed. The Commissioner directed Town Planning officials to fast-track the TDR process, noting that 34 property owners have already agreed to accept TDR. The civic body said TDR certificates would be issued to them shortly.

For the Uppal Flyover, Engineering officials were instructed to complete the remaining foundation works on priority. The Uppal Zonal Commissioner briefed the meeting on ongoing construction activities and the status of land acquisition. Officials noted that expediting the acquisition of Survey of India land on the Ramanthapur side remains crucial for taking the flyover project forward.
