Uppal Stadium Road widening plan under review as MMC tackles land hurdles
The proposed 120-foot road expansion in Uppal involves 0.78 acres of Survey of India land, compensation review and removal of obstructions near the NSL building.
Widening Uppal Stadium Road to 120 feet (36 metres) is under review by the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC), with officials examining land acquisition and obstructions that need to be cleared before the project can progress.
MMC Commissioner T. Vinay Krishna Reddy, conducted a field inspection along with the Superintendent Surveyor of the Survey of India (SOI) and officials from both departments to assess the requirements for the proposed road widening.
Around 0.78 acres of Survey of India land falls within the proposed widening stretch. Officials also identified compound walls and sheds belonging to Kendriya Vidyalaya in the affected area. The commissioner directed officials to examine compensation for the land acquisition in accordance with the applicable rules and take further action.
The inspection also covered temporary barricading sheets near the NSL building that are obstructing the widening work. The commissioner instructed the Chief City Planner and City Planner to take the necessary steps to remove them and directed the concerned departments to coordinate on the project.
The proposed widening aims to reduce traffic congestion in Uppal and improve vehicular movement. Resolving the land acquisition, compensation and obstruction-related issues will be important for taking the project forward.
