Telangana Plans ₹30-Crore Skywalk to Ease Aramghar Traffic
A new skywalk at Aramghar junction on Bengaluru highway aims to ease traffic and improve pedestrian safety, boosting connectivity and Hyderabad real estate value.
Pedestrian Skywalk Proposed on
Hyderabad-Bengaluru Highway
To address Hyderabad’s growing traffic challenges, the Telangana government is moving ahead with planned infrastructure upgrades. Authorities have decided to construct a large circular skywalk at the busy Aramghar Junction on the Bengaluru Highway.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has proposed the skywalk to enhance pedestrian safety while ensuring uninterrupted vehicular movement. Once completed, pedestrians will be able to cross the road safely without disrupting traffic. Elevators and escalators are also planned to facilitate access for senior citizens and persons with disabilities. Aramghar Junction serves not only local traffic but is also a key route to the Shamshabad International Airport. Vehicles coming from Shamshabad, Kurnool, and Bengaluru intersect here with traffic heading towards Chandrayangutta, LB Nagar, Rajendranagar, and Mehdipatnam, making it one of the city’s busiest junctions.
Despite the recent inauguration of a 4.4-km-long six-lane flyover from Aramghar to Zoo Park, pedestrian movement at ground level has become increasingly difficult. In this context, plans are underway to construct a new skywalk at an estimated cost of ₹30 crore. Similar skywalk project is also being planned in the JNTU–Kukatpally area.
