Yapral Junction Upgrade to Affect 53 Properties, Acquire 6,833 Sq Yards as MMC Plans Safer Traffic Corridor

As residential development and traffic volumes grow, the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) has initiated steps to transform the busy Yapral Junction into a safer and more efficient traffic corridor by introducing a free left, relocating utility infrastructure and expediting land acquisition through the Transferable Development Rights (TDR) mechanism.

MMC Commissioner T. Vinay Krishna Reddy inspected Chandragiri Colony and Yapral Junction along with senior civic, engineering, town planning and Ramky officials to review the proposed development works, during which he assessed frequent road accidents caused by a transmission tower located close to the carriageway and directed officials to create a free left to improve traffic flow while examining the feasibility of relocating the tower to a nearby park.

Officials were also instructed to verify land ownership details and, wherever required, initiate land acquisition through the Transferable Development Rights (TDR) mechanism.

According to the project assessment, the proposed junction upgrade will affect 53 properties and require the acquisition of 6,833.72 square yards of land. The project will also involve relocating 57 electricity poles, three transformers and three trees.

The Commissioner directed officials to obtain demand notices and cost estimates for shifting the electrical infrastructure and conduct joint inspections with the electricity department to expedite the works.

He also instructed officials to fast-track land acquisition in accordance with regulations and ensure construction activities adhere to safety standards while minimising inconvenience to residents.

Vinay Krishna Reddy directed all departments to work in coordination to reduce traffic congestion, improve road safety and expedite the junction upgrade. Once completed, the project is expected to enhance connectivity and facilitate smoother traffic movement across Yapral and surrounding residential neighbourhoods.
