Hyderabad Builders Told to Follow Green Building, EV and Safety Rules
The Telangana government has directed builders in Hyderabad to follow strict green building norms, EV charging installation, fire safety standards and sustainable construction practices. The new rules aim to promote transparency and environmentally responsible growth in the Hyderabad real estate sector.
The Telangana government has directed builders in Hyderabad to strictly comply with a set of sustainability, safety and transparency norms while executing construction projects. Developers have been asked to construct green buildings by adhering to the Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) and to install electric vehicle (EV) charging points in all parking areas. The government also stressed the need for complete transparency in sharing project specifications with homebuyers.
If a construction project is located near a lake, builders have been instructed to collaborate with HYDRAA for its development. Non-high-rise commercial buildings must mandatorily install fire safety equipment, while group housing projects will require traffic impact studies. The government further directed that projects must incorporate sewage treatment plants (STPs), water recycling systems and scientific waste segregation. Rainwater harvesting systems will have to undergo third-party audits, underscoring the state’s push for sustainable and responsible urban development.
