The booming Texas housing market, once fueled by thousands of Indian IT professionals—particularly from the Telugu states—is showing signs of cooling as economic uncertainty reshapes home-buying decisions. Cities such as Dallas, Frisco, Prosper, Celina, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio had witnessed strong demand from Indian technology professionals over the past decade. However, the trend is now slowing.

Industry experts attribute the shift to widespread layoffs in the US technology sector, uncertainty surrounding H-1B visas, higher mortgage interest rates, delays in Green Card processing, and growing concerns over job security. These factors have prompted many prospective buyers to postpone long-term investments such as purchasing homes.

Austin has emerged as a buyer's market, with a surge in new housing supply outpacing demand, placing downward pressure on prices. Similar trends are being reported across Houston, San Antonio, and the Dallas–Fort Worth metro area, where inventory has increased while sales activity has weakened. Builders in some locations have even begun offering incentives to attract buyers.

Market analysts note that the slowdown is not driven by visa concerns alone. Rising borrowing costs, expanding housing inventory, and broader economic uncertainty have collectively reduced demand. As Indian IT professionals adopt a more cautious financial approach, their reduced purchasing activity is increasingly influencing Texas' residential real estate market.
