MMC Standing Committee Reviews Rs 1,500 Crore Civic Works and Public Services

The civic body is considering major infrastructure and public-service measures, including roads, drainage, footpaths, sanitation and animal welfare programmes.

The Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) is examining a proposal to mobilise up to Rs 1,500 crore for civic infrastructure, with road, drainage and footpath works among the key proposals discussed at its Standing Committee meeting. The committee also reviewed works in Uppal, Ramanthapur and other areas, along with measures related to sanitation, public health and town planning.

The proposal was among 20 items discussed at the Standing Committee meeting chaired by MA&UD Special Chief Secretary and MMC Special Officer Jayesh Ranjan, alongside MMC Commissioner Vinay Krishna Reddy. The agenda covered development, sanitation, public health, veterinary, engineering, town planning, finance and administrative matters.

Among the civic works under consideration are land acquisition and administrative approvals for RCC box drains, CC roads and footpaths in various areas. The agenda also includes footpath development in layouts across Uppal, road development from VBR Gardens through Jonnabanda and Alwal to NH-44, and land allocation for special parking at Chiluka Layout.

Other development works on the agenda include the Uppal Development Model Road, bus transit-related infrastructure and model road development in Ramanthapur.

On sanitation and public health, members considered scientific collection, transportation and disposal of chicken waste. Proposals were also discussed for engaging NGOs and animal welfare organisations to carry out Animal Birth Control (ABC) and Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) programmes.

The meeting also reviewed funding for food services for poor and needy people under the Telangana Government’s Indiramma Canteen programme. Implementation of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) 2.0 was also taken up.

After examining the proposals, the committee took decisions for further action, while other matters were discussed with the permission of the Special Officer.
