Architects’ Conclave Examines Changing Role of Design, Materials and Technology

The way buildings are designed is shifting beyond basic construction, with materials, technology and user experience playing a larger role in how spaces are planned and delivered. As the demands on the built environment change, architects are looking at ways to make spaces more functional, adaptable and responsive to the needs of the people who use them.

The discussion took place at ‘UNIFEST – The Architects’ Conclave’, hosted by Aparna Unispace at its mega showroom in Miyapur, Hyderabad, to mark its first anniversary on Monday. The conclave brought together architects and design professionals to examine how new approaches in materials, design and technology are influencing the construction industry.

Architects at the conclave also stressed that the success of a building is not determined by its physical form alone. Factors such as comfort, usability and the relationship between people and their surroundings are becoming important considerations in the planning of residential, commercial and other built spaces.

The keynote address was delivered by Prashant Sutaria, Founder and Principal Architect of Mumbai-based Prashant Sutaria Architects. This was followed by a panel session moderated by Dr. S.P. Anchuri, Chairman of Focus, Architect and Structural Engineer.

A panel comprising architects Harini Vuddagiri, Naga Praveen, Santosh Mahakali, Srivani and Dorai Thyagarajan, Vice-President, Quart, examined the role of design, materials and technology in addressing the evolving needs of the built environment.

Organised as part of the ‘Horizon Series’ under NAVIG8, the conclave provided a platform for architects and design professionals to exchange views on developments in architecture, construction and related fields.

Speaking on the occasion, Aparna Reddy, Executive Director, Aparna Enterprises, said the conclave aimed to bring Hyderabad’s architecture and design professionals together on a common platform to exchange ideas and perspectives.

Participants also visited the Aparna Unispace Experience Centre and interacted with other industry professionals. The programme concluded with a networking session for members of Hyderabad’s architecture and design community.
