Has TG not approved rental housing regulations?
The central government’s rental housing regulations, effective July 1, 2025, mandate digitally stamped rental agreements to protect both landlords and tenants. However, Telangana has not yet approved these rules, meaning the regulations are not currently enforceable in the state. Once approved, the law will help reduce rental disputes and bring transparency to rental agreements in Telangana.
The central government brought rental housing regulations into effect from July 1, 2025. According to these rules, if a homeowner rents out their house to anyone, the rental agreement must be digitally stamped. This law is designed to protect the rights of both homeowners and tenants. However, these regulations come into force only in states that formally approve the law.
So far, the Telangana government has not taken any official decision regarding these rental housing regulations. Therefore, for the law to be implemented in the state, Telangana must first approve it. Once it is approved, it will help prevent disputes between landlords and tenants in Telangana.
