Cyberabad Trials Mechanized Road Sweeping Technologies to Boost Urban Sanitation
The pilot reflects CMC's push to modernise municipal services through technology-driven sanitation and road maintenance.
Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) has launched a pilot to evaluate advanced mechanized road sweeping technologies as part of its efforts to modernise urban sanitation and improve road maintenance across the city. The initiative aims to assess the operational efficiency and field performance of the equipment before considering its wider deployment.
Commissioner G. Srijana, accompanied by the Additional Commissioner (Sanitation), Zonal Commissioner, Kukatpally, and Deputy Commissioner, Madhapur, inspected a live demonstration of the mechanized road sweeping equipment at Parvath Nagar.
The demonstration featured a self-propelled sweeping machine designed for internal roads and by-lanes, a truck-mounted vacuum-cum-sweeping machine for mechanized sweeping and dust collection on major roads, and a waste collection vehicle for transporting the collected waste.
As part of the pilot, mechanized road sweeping operations are being carried out at two selected locations to evaluate the equipment's performance, operational efficiency and suitability under field conditions.
Meanwhile, Commissioner G. Srijana said the pilot will help assess the feasibility of adopting modern mechanized road sweeping technologies on a larger scale to improve road cleanliness, reduce dust pollution, enhance operational efficiency, and strengthen sanitation services across Cyberabad.
