TG unveils new Musi bridge project with Rs 229 cr
New infrastructure planned near Narsingi interchange to strengthen ORR connectivity
Property Pulse
The Telangana government has approved a major bridge project across the Musi River near ORR Exit No. 18A, aiming to improve connectivity and address traffic challenges in Hyderabad's rapidly growing western corridor.
The project, estimated to cost ₹229 crore, will be implemented by Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL) and is expected to provide better access between the ORR, Narsingi and surrounding growth centres.
According to the proposal, service-road bridges will be constructed on both sides of the ORR, along with a new service road linking the interchange to the Narsingi Ring Road.
Officials said the project has been designed to address multiple challenges, including traffic congestion, flooding of existing low-level crossings and operational constraints near the interchange.
The western corridor has witnessed substantial growth over the past decade, driven by the expansion of the Financial District, Kokapet, Narsingi and adjoining residential and commercial markets. Increasing traffic volumes have placed additional pressure on existing road infrastructure.
During periods of heavy rainfall, low-level crossings and local road connections in certain areas can become difficult to access, affecting traffic movement and commuter safety. The proposed bridges are expected to provide more reliable all-weather connectivity.
Apart from bridge construction, the project includes improvements to approach roads, drainage systems, river protection measures and traffic safety infrastructure.
Urban planners view the project as part of a broader effort to strengthen supporting infrastructure around the ORR network. While the ORR itself provides high-speed regional connectivity, efficient local access roads and interchange infrastructure are essential for maximising its benefits.
Improved connectivity could further support residential and commercial development across Narsingi, Kokapet and nearby locations, which continue to attract significant real estate activity.
The government has already accorded administrative sanction for the project and tendering activity is expected to begin shortly. Once completed, the bridges are expected to improve traffic circulation, reduce disruptions during adverse weather conditions and strengthen connectivity across one of Hyderabad's most active development corridors.
