MMC Standing Committee Reviews ₹2,586.67 Cr Budget, Roads, Flyovers and Waste Management Proposals

A wide-ranging infrastructure agenda covering roads, junctions, drainage and solid waste management took centre stage at the Standing Committee meeting.

The Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) has reviewed a series of infrastructure and urban development proposals, including a Rs 2,586.67 crore budget estimate for 2026-27, road widening works, flyovers, drainage projects and modern solid waste management infrastructure, at its sixth Standing Committee meeting.

At the sixth Standing Committee meeting, chaired by Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary, Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD) and Special Officer, MMC, alongside MMC Commissioner T. Vinay Krishna Reddy, members discussed 32 agenda items aimed at strengthening urban infrastructure and improving civic services across the corporation limits.

Among the key proposals reviewed were a 4-lane flyover at Anand Nagar Junction on the Nagole-Bandlaguda Road, a 6-lane grade separator connecting Hastinapuram, BN Reddy Nagar and Sagar Complex junctions, development of Yapral Junction, a stormwater drain linking Nagireddy and Kapra lakes, and construction of CC roads, underground drainage pipelines and box drains across several localities.

The committee also reviewed the proposed Rs 2,586.67 crore municipal budget for the 2026-27 financial year, deployment of 30 outsourced NAC engineers in the Town Planning Department and a proposal to entrust the maintenance of six public parks across three zones to women Self-Help Groups.

Under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) 2.0, proposals were discussed for a 500-tonne-per-day Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste processing plant, an Integrated Solid Waste Transfer Station at Peerzadiguda with MRF, RDF, composting, bio-methanation and leachate treatment facilities, 15 Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs), seven Secondary Collection Transfer Stations, a sanitary landfill and procurement of nine electric mechanical road sweeping machines.

The committee directed the concerned departments to work in coordination to improve urban infrastructure, strengthen scientific solid waste management, provide long-term solutions to traffic bottlenecks and accelerate environmentally sustainable urban development across the corporation limits.
