MMC Reviews Safe City Project, Discusses Dedicated Traffic Wing

Strengthening urban safety and improving traffic management remain a key focus for the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) as it steps up measures to enhance civic infrastructure across its jurisdiction.

MMC Commissioner T. Vinay Krishna Reddy reviewed the implementation of the Safe City Project during a meeting with Zonal Commissioners and Engineering Department officials, assessing the progress of ongoing works, infrastructure development and inter-departmental coordination.

A major focus of the review was the functioning of traffic signals across the corporation limits. The Commissioner directed officials to strengthen traffic signal monitoring, maintenance and repair by adopting modern technology and improving coordination among departments to ensure smoother traffic operations.

The meeting also discussed a proposal to establish a dedicated Traffic Wing within the corporation to facilitate faster resolution of traffic-related issues, enhance road safety and provide continuous monitoring of traffic management. Officials were instructed to prepare an action plan in coordination with the concerned departments.

To improve administrative efficiency, the Commissioner also reviewed the allocation of responsibilities among officers, directing that clear duties be assigned to each official while ensuring better coordination between departments to deliver faster and more transparent public services.

The Commissioner instructed all departments to work collectively towards achieving the objectives of the Safe City Project, with priority given to public safety, efficient traffic management and strengthening urban infrastructure.

The review meeting was attended by Zonal Commissioners Radhika Gupta, Sanchit Gangwar and Vikas Mahato, In-charge Chief Engineer Srinivas Rao, engineering officials and representatives from the concerned departments.
