Revanth Reddy Alleges Land Irregularities, Cites 2,463 Acres Linked to My Home

Allegations of large-scale land irregularities involving assigned, government, Bhoodan and evacuee properties came up in the Telangana Assembly, with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy accusing the previous administration of allowing questionable land transactions linked to My Home Group and alleging manipulation of land records and prohibited lists. 

Referring to My Home's holdings around Shamshabad, Revanth Reddy alleged that the group had 2,463 acres of land, excluding the airport, of which 100 acres were assigned lands belonging to poor people. He said the properties were purchased in five villages of Shamshabad mandal and held in the names of 28 companies, with the holdings spread across eight villages.

He listed Muchintal, Palmakul, Madanpally, Peddatopur, Sagidi, Gollur, Ameerpet, Nagaram, Nandipally, Kalvakole, Thoopur, Subhanpur, Venkannaguda, and added that records containing the village names, land extents and survey numbers linked to public or government interests were being submitted to the House. 

Citing specific cases, Reddy alleged that 301.07 acres in Gollur had been purchased from survey numbers that remained on the prohibited list between 1994 and 2004, before the same survey numbers were removed from the list through orders in 2014. In Nagaram's Survey No. 195, he alleged that 315 acres had been on the prohibited list. He also questioned the ownership of another 2,645 acres located at one place, asking whose money and wealth had resulted in such accumulation and alleging that properties had been placed in benami names.

Reddy also alleged irregularities involving evacuee property in Kapra, Medchal district. Referring to reports in Namasthe Telangana describing the land as evacuee and government property, he claimed that people were frightened and the property was subsequently transferred to My Home. 

At Mellacheruvu, where My Home has its cement factory, Reddy alleged that My Home Industries Private Limited had around 242 acres, of which 113 acres were Bhoodan lands. He described this as preliminary information and questioned how Bhoodan, assigned and Waqf lands could have entered private ownership.

The Chief Minister further referred to an alleged attempt involving 90 acres valued at Rs 1,000 crore, claiming that officials ignored the Supreme Court position that a GPA holder had no rights over the property. He further said that after the survey numbers were published in Namasthe Telangana, the concerned people were called and intimidated before the land was transferred to My Home. 

Linking these cases to alleged corruption in Dharani, Reddy called for a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the transactions, saying those responsible could face jail if the allegations were established. He noted that the land already identified was only a fraction of the total and put the value of the allegedly looted land at a minimum of Rs 1 lakh crore. 

Reddy also accused the Opposition of attempting to obstruct the Assembly discussion, abuse officials and women, and attack the government and Speaker, saying the House should condemn such conduct.

The Chief Minister added that the inquiry should cover every alleged land irregularity, not only the cases raised in the House. Reddy said Dharani had remained with the previous administration and that the government had been cautious in replacing it because the existing module was located abroad and, according to him, could potentially collapse with a single click. 

Reddy noted that the government had undertaken research and would introduce a new 'Bhu Bharati' module within one and a half months as part of the transition to a new land-record system. The allegations raised in the House, including those relating to land ownership and transactions, would need to be verified through revenue records, registration documents, prohibited-list records, court orders and any subsequent investigation.
