Future City Gets ₹140 Crore Link Road Push

Link roads and a 41.5-km greenfield corridor planned for South Hyderabad

Road infrastructure is being given a central role in the development of Bharat Future City, with the government planning a network of link roads, bridges and major corridors to improve connectivity across South Hyderabad. The government has sanctioned ₹140 crore for the development and expansion of link roads and culverts intended to improve internal connectivity within the Future City area and provide access to major national and state highways.

The Future City Development Authority (FCDA) has set a target of completing the works within 18 months, with works reported to have commenced in several villages.
The planned road network will connect the Future City area with NH-844 towards Bengaluru, NH-765 towards Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar Road. Key locations expected to be linked include Meerkhanpet, Yacharam, Rachaluru, Thimmapur and Konalguda. The objective is to create a network connecting villages and emerging development areas with major highways rather than relying on individual road links.

The proposed works cover several routes across the Future City region, including:

• Meerkhanpet–Medapally–Malkijguda–Nandivanaparthy–Yacharam
• Medipally–Nanak Nagar–Pillipally–Tadiparthy
• Kurmidda–Meerkhanpet Junction
• Srisailam National Highway–Rachaluru–Thimmapur Junction
• Rachaluru–Begampet–Gummadavelli–Konalguda
• Konalguda–Yacharam Junction
• Link roads connecting major gram panchayats

Another major road project linked to Future City is the Ratan Tata Greenfield Road. The proposed 41.5-km, six-lane access-controlled corridor, with a planned width of 100 metres, will run from Raviryal near ORR Exit-13 through Meerkhanpet towards Amangal. The project is planned in two phases. The approximately 19.2-km Raviryal–Meerkhanpet section is being executed by Rithwik Projects, while L&T is undertaking the approximately 22.3-km Meerkhanpet–Amangal section, according to the project information. The road network is also expected to incorporate improvements at key junctions in Meerkhanpet, Yacharam, Thimmapur, Rachaluru and Konalguda. 

The proposed signal-free arrangements are intended to improve traffic movement between Future City, surrounding villages and the major highway network. Improved road connectivity could support the emergence of a new development corridor in South Hyderabad as industrial, IT and residential activity expands around Future City.
For now, the infrastructure plan points to a significant reshaping of South Hyderabad’s transport network, with local link roads, a regional greenfield corridor and longer-term urban planning being developed in parallel.
