MMC Plans Phased Removal of Garbage Vulnerable Points Across Malkajgiri

The civic drive combines surveillance, greening initiatives, and public awareness to create cleaner neighbourhoods.

Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) Commissioner Vinay Krishna Reddy has directed officials to remove Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs) in a phased manner, intensify action against illegal garbage dumping, and ensure residents hand over waste only to authorised door-to-door collection vehicles.

Reviewing sanitation and civic infrastructure works across Santosh Nagar, Nagarjuna Colony, DRDL Colony, and Sri Ramana Colony in Champapet and Hastinapuram, the Commissioner inspected ongoing GVP removal works and appreciated officials for eliminating one such point in Santosh Nagar. He directed them to develop the cleared site with plantations to prevent fresh dumping.

During his visit to Nagarjuna Colony, Vinay Krishna Reddy observed that garbage was being dumped illegally despite regular sanitation efforts. He instructed officials to install CCTV cameras, undertake plantation along the roadside, strengthen monitoring, and ensure continuous sanitation measures to keep the area garbage-free.

The Commissioner also interacted with residents of DRDL Colony to understand civic issues and inspected facilities at the community hall. He directed officials to prepare proposals for developing a vacant plot into a public park with greenery and recreational facilities while ensuring that residents' grievances are resolved on priority.

At Sri Ramana Colony, he reviewed ongoing plantation activities in parks and residential areas, stressing the importance of increasing green cover to improve the urban environment. He also inspected the colony park and outdoor gym, directing officials to ensure proper maintenance, cleanliness, and the safe functioning of public amenities.

Vinay Krishna Reddy further inspected several GVP locations, including near ZPHS School, CC Road, Oil Mill, and Alekhya Tower, directing officials to strengthen surveillance, prevent fresh dumping, and create public awareness to permanently eliminate garbage vulnerable points across the municipal corporation.
