Property Pulse

Telangana's proposal for a new airport in Bhadradri Kothagudem has moved into another round of site assessment, with four to five alternative locations identified after two earlier sites were found technically unsuitable. The proposed airport could serve passenger traffic linked to Bhadrachalam, as well as business and industrial activity associated with the region.

A central technical team is expected to assess the shortlisted locations for geography, weather conditions, land availability, runway requirements and aircraft suitability. Its technical report will determine the next stage of the proposal. The airport proposal is part of a wider effort to expand Telangana's aviation network beyond Hyderabad and Warangal.

The state is also pursuing Mamnoor airport, where land acquisition has been completed and the site is moving towards handover to the Airports Authority of India. Other proposals include sites at Anthargam in Peddapalli, Mahabubnagar, Jakranpally in Nizamabad and Adilabad. Their status varies, with feasibility studies and clearances still required in some cases.
