* Greater Hyderabad Gets 12 Zones, 60 Circles for Better Governance
The Telangana government has taken a significant administrative decision by restructuring the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) into 12 zones and 60 circles. A government order (GO No. 292) to this effect has been issued recently. Earlier, the government had merged 20 municipalities and seven municipal corporations into GHMC, pushing Greater Hyderabad’s population beyond 1.34 crore. To ensure smoother administration and improved civic services, the existing six zones have now been expanded to twelve zones, encompassing a total of 300 wards. The newly designated zones include Malkajgiri, Uppal, LB Nagar, Shamshabad, Rajendranagar, Charminar, Golconda, Khairatabad, Secunderabad, Serilingampally, Kukatpally, and Quthbullapur. These zones have been further divided into 60 administrative circles.
