Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) has stepped up efforts to address pollution concerns at Kollur Lake, with senior officials carrying out a joint inspection of the sewage treatment infrastructure and the water body to assess wastewater management and identify corrective measures.

Commissioner G. Srijana, along with HMWSSB Managing Director Ashok Reddy, inspected the Kollur 2BHK Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and Kollur Lake to review the reported pollution issues and evaluate the functioning of the treatment facility.

During the visit, the officials assessed the operational performance of the STP, examined potential sources contributing to pollution in Kollur Lake, and reviewed measures required to improve wastewater management and protect the lake ecosystem.

Commissioner G. Srijana directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination to identify the root causes of pollution and implement remedial measures on priority. She stressed the need for effective wastewater management and timely intervention to safeguard the water body and improve its long-term environmental health.

The inspection was attended by officials from the Engineering Wing of Cyberabad Municipal Corporation, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), the Irrigation Department, Housing Department, and the Patancheru Circle sanitation team.

The joint review is expected to pave the way for coordinated interventions across departments, with the focus now shifting to timely implementation of pollution-control measures and sustained monitoring to strengthen wastewater management and safeguard Kollur Lake over the long term.
