Ameenpur Road widening review puts bridge, drainage works in focus

Cyberabad Municipal Corporation reviewed road widening, bridge, drainage and flood mitigation requirements along the NH-65 to Ameenpur corridor.

Road widening and supporting infrastructure on the Ameenpur Road corridor are set for further review, with bridge connectivity, drainage capacity and flood mitigation emerging as key requirements along the stretch from NH-65 to Ameenpur.

Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner G Srijana conducted a joint field inspection of the ongoing and proposed works from NH-65 to Ameenpur along with the Medak Lok Sabha MP, Serilingampally MLA and senior officials from CMC, the Irrigation Department and other concerned departments.

The inspection covered road widening, bridge connectivity, drainage, flood management and other public infrastructure requirements. Commissioner Srijana and the officials examined various locations and discussed measures to improve connectivity and strengthen storm-water management.

A bridge across Bandam Kommu Lake was proposed, subject to finalisation of the lake boundaries. CMC will formulate the bridge proposal and revise the Road Development Plan (RDP) accordingly.

Major Nala works, including proposed box drains and retaining walls, will be taken up for a drone survey and consultancy study for consideration under SNDP Phase-3. The existing culvert on Nallagandla Surplus Nala near Jyothi Theatre will also be examined for widening through SNDP.

Infrastructure requirements related to the Ameenpur STP and diversion of the sewer main will be examined by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB). CMC will also coordinate with National Highway authorities on the requested Foot Over Bridge (FOB) and bus shelter near Jyothi Theatre.

Sanitation teams were directed to maintain cleanliness and ensure regular sanitation near the Vinayaka Nagar culvert.

The Commissioner directed CMC, Irrigation, HMWS&SB, SNDP, National Highway authorities and other departments to maintain close coordination and take forward the required proposals, studies and infrastructure works in a coordinated manner.

Taken together, the proposals are expected to address key gaps in road connectivity, drainage and flood management across the corridor.
