MMC Warns Ramky Over Garbage Clearance Delays
The inspection focused on accelerating drainage upgrades, improving sanitation management and addressing urban infrastructure challenges in key growth corridors of the city.
Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) has identified 106 structures obstructing ongoing nala development works in Uppal, while warning the Ramky team of action over delays in garbage clearance during an inspection led by Commissioner Vinay Krishna Reddy.
The Commissioner conducted inspections at Devender Nagar and Nallacheruvu in Uppal to review the progress of drainage improvement works, encroachment issues and sanitation management.
During his inspection of the ongoing Strategic Nala Development Programme (SNDP) works at Uppal Nallacheruvu, officials informed him that 106 structures were obstructing the execution of nala development works. He directed the Town Planning ACP to issue notices to affected property owners and expedite the Transferable Development Rights (TDR) process to facilitate removal of the obstacles.
Stressing the importance of timely execution, Vinay Krishna Reddy called for a special review of encroachment removal and project progress and instructed officials to ensure completion of the nala development works within the stipulated timeline.
Earlier, during his visit to the Devender Nagar nala, the Commissioner directed the Town Planning ACP to undertake a detailed inquiry into encroachments along the drain corridor. He also reviewed conditions at the KCR Colony culvert near the main access points of the Devender Nagar and TV Colony nalas, where mosquito larvae were detected.
The Commissioner instructed the Entomology Department to intensify anti-larval operations across the nala stretch and maintain continuous monitoring to prevent mosquito breeding and improve public health conditions in the surrounding localities.
Reviewing sanitation conditions along Devender Nagar Nala Road and Church Colony Road, he found waste clearance and sanitation management to be unsatisfactory. Observing delays in garbage lifting, he directed sanitation staff and the Ramky team to immediately clear accumulated waste and ensure regular collection and transportation of garbage from all designated collection points.
He warned that action would be initiated if waste is not removed in a timely manner and instructed officials to ensure that sweeping waste is not left on roads.
The review focused on accelerating infrastructure works and addressing civic issues affecting residents in the surrounding neighbourhoods.
