Uppal, RK Puram Infrastructure Projects Gain Pace as Landowners Opt for TDR

Key transport infrastructure projects in Malkajgiri are moving ahead as more property owners affected by land acquisition agree to accept Transferable Development Rights (TDR), helping clear a key hurdle for construction of the Uppal flyover and additional ROB and RUB at RK Puram. 

At Uppal Junction, the Rs 311-crore grade separator/flyover project has achieved 30.886% physical progress. The project includes a 1,436.18-metre-long, six-lane second-level flyover along the Ramanthapur-Warangal Highway, aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity.

Land acquisition for the project is progressing alongside construction. About 0.76 acres of Survey of India land is required for the flyover, with steps being taken to acquire the land through TDR.

 Ramanthapur side, land acquisition is also underway for properties belonging to TGIIC and nine other properties required for the second-level flyover. Four of the nine affected property owners have submitted applications for TDR, and the process is underway.

At RK Puram, work on a three-lane additional Railway Over Bridge (ROB) is also progressing. The Rs 210-crore project will have a proposed length of 640 metres and is aimed at addressing traffic congestion in the area.

An additional 40-metre RUB, estimated to cost Rs 35 crore, is also being constructed by the Railway Department.

Of the 38 properties affected by the ROB, 34 property owners have submitted applications for TDR, with verification currently underway. For the RUB, three of the eight affected property owners have applied for TDR.

Meanwhile, MMC Commissioner Vinay Krishna Reddy has been holding meetings with affected property owners and officials every Saturday at the MMC headquarters to address concerns related to land acquisition and TDR.

He noted that these regular meetings have helped affected property owners come forward to agree to TDR, supporting the progress of the infrastructure works. 

The projects are aimed at improving road and rail connectivity, reducing traffic congestion and providing faster and safer travel for commuters in the area.
