JNTU–Miyapur–Raidurg 8.5-km Corridor to Get Last-Mile Mobility Study

A coordinated assessment will examine pedestrian gaps, feeder-auto facilities, school traffic and key congestion points along the route.

Last-mile connectivity along the JNTU–Miyapur–Raidurg Metro corridor is set for a detailed mobility study, with authorities examining pedestrian access, feeder transport, traffic management and links between Metro stations and surrounding neighbourhoods.

The proposed study was reviewed at the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) Head Office in a meeting chaired by Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, alongside CMC Commissioner G. Srijana. The Managing Director of Telangana RTC, Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Zonal Commissioners and other concerned officials also participated in the meeting.

The study will assess the approximately 8.5-km corridor to identify missing footpath links, pedestrian crossings, encroachments and unsafe stretches that require improvement. It will also examine connectivity between Metro stations and nearby residential areas, offices, schools and commercial establishments.

A key focus will be improving auto-rickshaw and feeder connectivity, with authorities looking at suitable pick-up and drop-off points and designated feeder auto stands at Metro stations and major junctions. The study will also examine the integration of walking, cycling, feeder autos and e-autos to strengthen last-mile access.

Traffic management will form another part of the assessment, including congestion points, accident-prone locations, pedestrian crossings, signage, barricading and traffic regulation requirements.

The study will also examine school transport and peak-hour congestion, including the movement of school buses and vans and traffic caused by parent vehicles. Authorities are also considering designated pick-up and drop-offthen give the lead zones away from main carriageways to improve safety and reduce congestion near schools.

Covering the corridor from Metro stations to the last mile, the assessment will focus on identifying coordinated mobility improvements for commuters, pedestrians and students.

The initiative is expected to focus on better connections between Metro stations and surrounding neighbourhoods while improving pedestrian access, public transport integration and traffic movement along the JNTU–Miyapur–Raidurg corridor.
