CMC Standing Committee Clears ₹89 Crore Infrastructure, Sanitation and Public Welfare Projects

Hyderabad's civic infrastructure pipeline received a major boost as the Standing Committee of the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) approved projects worth nearly Rs 89 crore covering roads, stormwater drainage, sanitation, sports, biodiversity and public welfare across the corporation limits. 

The 6th Ordinary Meeting of the Standing Committee was chaired by Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary, Municipal Administration & Urban Development Department, and attended by CMC Commissioner G. Srijana, Zonal Commissioners and heads of various departments.

Among the major infrastructure decisions, the committee approved the Rs 5.57 crore proposal for shifting electrical utilities obstructing the proposed Model Road connecting NH-65 (Old Bombay Road) to Ameenpur under the Road Development Plan. It also cleared the construction of a Twin Box Barrel and cement concrete road from Khaithalapur Flyover to the Transfer Station in Khaithalapur Ward at an estimated cost of Rs 3.90 crore. 

To strengthen stormwater infrastructure, approvals were granted for the construction of a box drain from Ambeer Cheruvu to Srinivasa Colony in Bhagyanagar Allwyn Colony Ward at a cost of Rs 5.48 crore, and for the balance box drain from New Colony Road No. 6 to Raj Darbar Restaurant in Mayuri Nagar under the Madhapur Circle with an administrative sanction of Rs 2.50 crore. 

The committee also approved the development of PJR Stadium at Chandanagar at an estimated cost of Rs 6 crore, along with a dedicated athletic track at the stadium costing Rs 4.67 crore, as part of efforts to strengthen public sports infrastructure. 

As part of its environmental initiatives, the Standing Committee approved the establishment of the Cyberabad Urban Biodiversity Centre for Awareness, Rescue and Rehabilitation (CUB-CARE) at Ashoka Vanam Park, Serilingampally, in collaboration with the Animal Warriors Conservation Society (AWCS). The project involves a capital outlay of Rs 2 crore and an annual recurring expenditure of Rs 60 lakh. 

Several Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) 2.0 proposals were approved, including Rs 1.90 crore for engaging the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) to provide technical support for implementing Solid Waste Management Rules, Swachh Survekshan 2027 preparedness, Bulk Waste Generator compliance, capacity building, awareness programmes and third-party monitoring.

The committee also approved Rs 4.05 crore for mechanised road sweeping vehicles, Rs 3.50 crore for conservancy equipment, Rs 50 lakh for digital IEC infrastructure, Rs 6.02 crore for 30 compost units, Rs 2.55 crore for 10 aspirational toilets, Rs 23.42 crore for nine waste management facilities comprising SCTPs and MRFs, Rs 2 crore for a Knowledge Centre at the CMC headquarters, and Rs 1.26 crore for capacity building of officials and field staff.

Additionally, two Road Development Plan (RDP) proposals were cleared: one connecting the NH-65 Foot Over Bridge to PNR Hill View via PJR Enclave, and another from Miyapur Lotus Hospitals to Ameenpur Village M.G. Statue via Janapriya West City Road and HMT Swarnapuri Colony Main Road.

With all agenda items receiving approval, the proposals will now be placed before the Corporation, the State Government and other competent authorities for statutory clearances and implementation.
