Locals seek clarity on lake boundaries amid ongoing court proceedings

Residents in the Sunnam Cheruvu area have protested against actions being taken in connection with the lake’s Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zone, saying their properties could be affected. They have sought clarity on the boundaries being considered by authorities and urged officials to take the ongoing court proceedings into account. The dispute concerns several lands and plots around Sunnam Cheruvu.

Residents claim that properties purchased by them are being brought within the lake limits and that the action could affect property values and cause financial losses. They also said a case relating to the disputed lands is pending before the High Court and that interim orders have been issued in the matter. They demanded that no further action affecting the disputed properties be taken until the legal proceedings are resolved.

Residents seek survey clarity

The Anjaneya Swamy Temple in the area has also become part of the dispute. Residents said the temple is regularly visited by people from surrounding localities and claimed that it has registration documents. They have sought protection for the temple and surrounding properties while the legal issues remain pending. Residents further alleged that more than 80 plots could be brought within the lake limits.

They have called for the relevant survey records, property boundaries and court orders to be examined before any further action is taken. Karthik Rayala, who has been raising the issue with authorities, met local residents and criticised the manner in which the issue was being handled. He alleged that the lake limits were being extended to cover more than 80 plots and questioned action affecting properties while the matter was before the court.

Rayala also raised concerns about the Anjaneya Swamy Temple and urged the government and HYDRA to consider the residents’ representations and the ongoing court proceedings. The dispute highlights the importance of clearly establishing lake FTL and buffer boundaries through official surveys and records, particularly where privately held properties are involved.

For property owners, the immediate issue is not only the extent of the lake boundary but also the status of their individual land records and the precise scope of any court orders covering the disputed area.
