Water Board Slaps Rs 20K Fine On Jubilee Hills Pub, Cuts Drinking Water And Tanker Supply

Commercial establishments in Hyderabad face strict action for wasting drinking water, with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) imposing a Rs 20,000 fine on Fore Fathers Pub in Jubilee Hills and disconnecting its drinking water connection following an inspection.

The Water Board also stopped the supply of commercial water tankers to the pub from its filling station after officials confirmed water misuse during a field inspection prompted by a complaint. The establishment is located at Plot No. 872 on Road No. 45 in Jubilee Hills.

With water availability likely to come under pressure during the upcoming summer, the action serves as a warning to hotels, restaurants, pubs and other commercial establishments to avoid wasting potable water. The Water Board has urged businesses to use drinking water responsibly and warned that violations would invite fines and disconnection of water connections.

The Board has also appealed to residents to report instances of drinking water wastage and misuse. Complaints can be submitted through its WhatsApp number, 99499 30003, along with photographs or videos, details of the individuals or establishments involved, the location and the complete address.

Complaints can also be registered through the customer care number 155313. The Board said it would conduct field-level investigations into complaints and take action in accordance with the rules if violations were confirmed. It has assured complainants that their identities would be kept strictly confidential.

The action comes as water conservation remains an important concern for the city's residential and commercial developments, particularly ahead of the summer season. The Board has called on the public and commercial establishments to participate in efforts to prevent drinking water wastage.
